This is how we ship Christina's art, whether you buy a work in our online shop at galleriknall.com or directly from us at the gallery.

A work of art is not an ordinary parcel. A rolled poster and a large painting behind glass need very different care on the road, which is why we have no fixed price list for shipping. Every work is packed on its own, we choose the transport to suit the piece and the address, and you know the cost before anything leaves the gallery.

Why the price varies

Three things decide the cost: the size and weight of the work, how it is framed, and where it is going. A poster bound for Gothenburg and a glazed painting bound for New York have only one thing in common. Both have to arrive in one piece.

A flat rate would be wrong one way or the other. You would either pay too much for something small, or it would not cover what it takes to protect something large. We would rather price your work properly.

How we pack

Rolled in a tube

Posters and some paintings on canvas can be rolled and sent in a sturdy tube. It is the simplest way to ship art, and usually the least expensive.

Framed behind glass

Glass is what most often breaks in transit. We protect the glass and the corners and pack the work so it cannot shift inside the box, however the parcel is handled along the way.

Gilded and deep frames

A gilded frame does not forgive scuffs. It gets its own protective wrapping before it goes into the outer packaging, and box frames are packed so their depth is never crushed.

Large works in a made-to-measure crate

Large paintings and bigger glazed works travel in a wooden crate we build for that particular piece. Making one is a craft in itself. A crate normally starts at around SEK 2,500 and is included in the shipping price we quote you.

Insured all the way

Every shipment is insured in transit, whether it is going across town or across the world. When your parcel arrives, open it and look the work over. If anything seems damaged, take photos, keep the packaging and contact both us and the carrier straight away. We will help you with the claim.

The right carrier for each work

Once a work is packed, we choose the carrier best suited to that shipment and that address. A small parcel within Sweden and a crate to the United States call for different solutions. We have long experience of shipping art within Sweden and around the world, and we know who treats fragile pieces with care.

If you live in Stockholm, you can also collect your work from the gallery at Hornsgatan 26 or have it delivered to your door. Just choose at checkout on galleriknall.com.

How to get a shipping quote

  1. Ask before you buy. Email art@knall.com with the name of the work and your delivery address, and we will send you a price.
  2. Or order straight away. Checkout on galleriknall.com shows the shipping options you can choose right now. If shipping is not priced there, we will contact you with a quote for your work.
  3. Nothing ships until you say yes. Once you have approved the shipping price, we pack and send the work. We let you know when it is on its way and send a tracking number as soon as the carrier provides one.

If a work ships soon after you order, it usually arrives within one to two weeks in Sweden. Deliveries abroad take longer, especially outside the EU, where the shipment has to clear customs.

Works over SEK 10,000

Online orders are limited to SEK 10,000. Works priced above that are bought directly from the gallery.

That is how we handle our more valuable pieces. We plan the packing, insurance and delivery together with you, and you pay by bank transfer. Call or email us, or visit the gallery.

Shipping questions

How much will shipping cost for my artwork?
It depends on the size of the work, its frame and where it is going. A rolled poster within Sweden costs little. A large glazed painting in a custom crate to another country costs considerably more. You always know the price before we ship.
Can I find out the shipping cost before I buy?
Yes. Email art@knall.com with the name of the work and your delivery address, and we will come back to you with a price.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide, within the EU and beyond, including to the United States.
Is my artwork insured in transit?
Yes. Everything we ship is insured, whatever the destination.
How much does a wooden crate cost?
Each crate is built for one particular work and normally starts at around SEK 2,500. Larger works need larger crates and more work.
Will I have to pay customs duty or import VAT?
Not within the EU. Outside the EU, the destination country may charge customs duty and import VAT, which the recipient pays.
Can I collect the work myself?
Of course. You are welcome at the gallery at Hornsgatan 26 in Stockholm, open Tuesday to Friday 12 to 6 pm and Saturday and Sunday 12 to 4 pm. Let us know you are coming and we will have it ready.
What if my artwork arrives damaged?
Photograph the parcel and the work, keep the packaging and contact us and the carrier as soon as you can. The work is insured and we will help you with the claim.
How do I buy a work priced over SEK 10,000?
Contact the gallery at art@knall.com or +46 79 30 40 931. We will go through shipping and insurance with you, and you pay by bank transfer.
